ARTISTIC STATMENTThere is a definite bookworm side to my personality, one loving a good story, and urning to give new stories their shape and form. I experience a major case of awe when I look at the work of Mary Grandpre. Her work can be playful moody, colorful, and often an exercise in twisting perspective to show character emotion or the whimsical side of a story.
My artistic side thrives on creating illustrations that relate to the written words with which it is paired, while my graphic designer side seeks a framework for all the elements at play within a publishing project. With a full heart, I desire bringing stories to life for the next generation of young readers. I seek to work with publishers of children’s books on the layout and as a creative artist. Writing also interests me, capturing the spirit of a story and being a partner in illustrating pivotal moments of the journey where characters transformation is gratifying. I wish for children and adults alike, to be transported through story telling. The mixture of drawn and colored illustration mixed with digital elements and patterns excites me. I enjoy challenging myself in finding ways to incorporate visual elements that blend well with story elements and help to bring the story to life. . |
